This is an interesting take on the digital nomad lifestyle, but I strongly disagree with the fact that people shouldn't do the digital nomad lifestyle at all, from your title. You do highlight that you advise it if people make it their own, but I think the fraction of digital nomads that go to Bali are very small. There are so many digital nomads living all over the globe, really anywhere with a decent internet connection, where you get to know the local people, make friends with those around you. My own nomadic lifestyle has brought me some of the most wonderful connections and interesting encounters.

I think it would be interesting to reframe it and state how being a digital nomad in Bali might not bring you what you're looking for, if what you're looking for is an opportunity to meet people and the world that are different from where you come from.

If people want to find themselves, they're better off facing their demons at home then doing it while traveling the world, simply because, when you've travelled all those kilometres, you tend to realise the things were there all along (literally like the Alchemist). Finding ourselves is an internal journey, not necessarily external, & seeing the world when you're more comfortable with yourself happens to be a whole lot more fun!

Either way, thanks for writing this, this stimulated a response, making it a good/effective piece :)
