Things I’m Doing Right in My Early 20s
Don’t be so hard on yourself
I see so many articles on this platform about mistakes people made in their (early) 20s, things they regret (not) doing, ways they could’ve enhanced their lives. There are plenty of people out there looking back at their (early) twenties in, what feels like, a not so positive manner. To me, a 23-year-old, evaluating how you used your “younger years” when you’re no longer existing in that time frame, seems illogical.
The way we value certain things, people, and experiences changes as you grow older. Hell, it even changes each and every day. As human beings we are constantly growing, evolving, and learning from our experiences. Although a small timeframe, the things that were important when I was 20, are no longer crucial or of significance to me now at the age of 23.
This brings me to my next point. Yes, I realise I’m 23 writing about what I did right in my life. How would I even be able to evaluate this now, you might ask. It’s a legitimate question. I find that looking back and observing ourselves, can really help plunge us forward into who we want to be and choose to be every day. So instead of only doing that when I’m older when I can’t change much anymore, I’ve decided to spend time now while I still have the opportunity to change, to grow, to shift gears. Self-reflection…
